1975 VIN # question

I want to know if the VIN on the 1975 Camaro was on a seperate plate, and then attached to the dash metal. Or was it stamped into the metal that makes up the dash. I am wanting to take the VIN off a doner car I found, and transfer it to the car I have. Then I will part out the other. I just need to know if I can pull it, and attach it to mine.   

why would you want to do that? that is totally illegal.
 
also, I think you can answer your own question here. all you have to do is look at the car you have now and you will see how the vin is on there
