Hey guys this is my first post. But I dropped a 383 into my 1970 camaro and now I am ordering a flywheel for it and I need to know whether the engine is internally or externally balanced. NEED TO KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Thanks alot for your help!

a 383 is externally balanced unless whoever did the machine work balanced it internally,,,,make sure you find out because the front balancer is different to

Depends what parts are used. If the 400" crank is used it is probably externally balanced because that is how the 400" engines came from the factory, but it could also have been balanced internally by whoever assembled the engine. If an aftermarket crank was used, then it is any body's guess. You could look at the counterweights and see if they were drilled for balancing or if heavy metal plugs used to add weight and if present assume it was balanced internally, but it is a risky assumption. The best thing would be to talk to the people that put it together.
