Hey! Just wanted to share my project. 1969 standard coupe, beat to death. I've set aside $5000 to fix it up.
I'm bolting up a '71 subframe and I just picked up a L98 corvette TPI and 700R4 tranny for $1400. And my buddy is filming the process for Low Budget Garage so if you are interested in how I do it... or if I can tune in.

Great work! About time someone does a realistic build show, not the high buck sponsored cars.
Keep it up.

so r u trying to make a build with 5k?

That's the plan. $5000 out of pocket. Of course, if I can turn around and sell some parts, that will add to the pot. I figure it's just additional surplus for the end-of-project rush.
For instance, I will be selling the '69 subframe for a few hundred and now that I have the corvette motor... (oops, that's not on the show yet.) I can sell my 454.
So the 5K comes out of my bank account. The rest will come from selling parts... like we all have to do.

In any case, I'm still being challenged as to finishing it for that amount.
My dad's neighbor just dropped 20K into his Nova and it's just a motor and body.
I just wanted to show people that you can fix up your car and have fun without buying every new part in the catalog. And you can save a TON of cash doing it yourself.

We can all learn from each other.

PS: I saw your '67. Very nice. Cool dog too.

Matts01ES: I think that I'm still missing a shortened driveshaft and fan shroud. Of coure I might be running the electric fans like the vette does.

74454bb: I'm on a limited budget. I need the cash.

Matts01ES: You tell 'em. I should get close to 20mi/gal with the vette motor. Gas is $3.19 in my town... and it isn't even summertime yet!!!

Hey, I'm not upset.
Sooner or later, I'll drop a big block into one of my cars.
I've already got plans to do a '71 and another '69 after this one.
I'll need more money first.

And that's good. No sense in rushing things.
Sometimes I find that switching to another part of the car when I'm burned-out or my funds are low can help my motivation.

Or I look at my concept sketches and think.... someday.

I have been. But, I'm not burned-out yet. Wait 'till summer. I picked up some new bushings and ball joints for the front end today. I love the polyurethane stuff. They're installed and now I'm looking at 2" drop spindles and tierods to finish it up, painting along the way.
I'm still waffling over the design. Maybe I'm post some picts and get some feedback.

Well, back to work. Have to strip the paint off my front fenders and pull the pistons from my new motor.
