What year is the car. 94 and up do not take chips. Otherwise Jet or Hypertech are OK & act about the same. If the car has had big mods done, you should get a custom chip.

What!? No chips will work in a 94 and up? Jetchip makes a performance chip for both the V6 and the V8. Superchip makes them only for the 5.7 liter. Im seriously thinking about picking one up and have done a fair ammount of research on them for my 98 camaro. Anything you know that im not aware of?

Well, if you can find a way to get the chip into the computer, you will be the first to do it , and receive great accolades. What is available is reprogrammers such as Hypertech and Jet. You plug the programmer into the ALDL port and actually reprogram the computer, and then remove the programmer.

In the older cars you could open the computer and replace the MEMCAL chip with one of your choosing, or remove the MEMCAL, instsll a new chip and plug the MEMECAL on top of it. In the newer cars you can still open the computer, but there is no chip that can be removed. In its place now you will find the knock sensor module.

They are supposed to increase power by optimize the air fuel mixture and spark timing. Sometimes they do, and some times they don't.
