Couple of questions (from me? No way...)

1st: In Drive when i let off the gas my car slows down considerably, like im braking.. but im not.. but in Overdrive it glides and gradually slows down and due to that i usually drive in o/d and not drive.
 
2nd: What would the effect of running Valvoline or w/e 10w50 be on my car? Good? Bad? My mechanic said that I should run it over the conventional 5w30 i run now.
 
3rd: How the hell do i fix the light that tells me what gear im in? It doesnt work so i have to count my gear before im in Drive.

When you are in drive your are running a lot more RPMs and so it is going to slow down fast like engine braking, in over drive you are spinning less Rs so the motor is not trying to slow you down as much.  The shifter thing i dont know what to tell you cause my cars a stick but most likely a light bulb, take the top console piece apart and take a peek, should be simple.

Oh ya and the oil is just a little thicker, you have valve noise that he told you to do that? any way it is just thicker so when it is colder out just make sure the car is warmed up so the oil is circulating before you give her the nuts when it is cold

Yeah ive got a valve tick. Ok. Will 10w50 make her run better... performance wise?

Probably not (good or bad). It's mainly suggested for a longevity reason, valve tick for your case for the winter.

I doubt that the heavier oil is going to help the valve noise, you really need to find out which valve is making noise and fix the problem.

Yeah, Id have him look... BUT right now i ran outta money for repairs.. over 2000 invested in repairs... Ive spent alot on this car lol. My next thing is to get her running clean, new induction boot, high flow cat and get her registered under my name and pass emissions, Then ive gotta change out my oil, new alternator and ill have him check out the valve.. IF i can afford it...
