Does your V6 feel slow? here's some tips

When i bought my car i was somewhat bumbed about the lack of horse power. Dont get me wrong, it was a nice ride, but it wasnt as fast as i hoped i guess. Well yesterday my friend Dave was flushing his radiater and told me i should do the same, so we did. We also decided to check the spark plugs and the cat.s. Two of my spark plugs were bad and my cat.s were dirty. Well we replaced the spark plugs and cleaned out everything that was dirty. I got in my car to leave the parking lot and waited until traffic was clear for me to go. When it was good enough i floored it (like i alwas had to do to not get ran over) and HOLLY SHI-CRAP! My back tires spun out and i threw myself back in my seat! When i looked at the spedometer i was at 57...or something. It drives like a brand new car...better yet, a Camaro!


So my point is check EVERYTHING and make sure they are clean, good, or uncloged. Trust me, it helps.

lol thats just regular car maint yea if your sparkplugs were bad that would be why you lost alota hp.

how do clean ur cats?

Take 'em out, cut 'em open, gut 'em out, and put 'em on

Being that you are from California, you better have some functional cats, otherwise you will never pass inspection. Put in high flow cats if you want, but don't gut them out. Besides, the power difference between a good cat and no cat is hardly noticeable.

There was another post that said if you gut the cats you'll beat a viper,so now you can go find one and make an easy $200.

My cats do a pretty good job of cleaning themselves.

It's the furballs and litter box I have to take care of.

not only that if you gut the cats it will mostly give you a catalyst effiency code unless you install SIMS in place of the Rear oxygen sensors. i bet if you gutted them all the out you will be seeing a code come up soon when conditions are right (under 70 mph and engine temp at normal range.) Just a thought.

I recommend cleaning the carbon out of  your engine with seafoam. I followed the instructions from LS1 Tech.com and my camaro idles smoother, and revs faster. I put a can in with a full tank of gas and then the next day i did it via the brake booster vacuum line. Let it simmer for about 20 mins then fire it up and watch it smoke up the block. Then after it idles for about 10-15 mins you get to take it out onto the highway/back roads and run all the seafoam out of it.
