Hey guys, I signed up a little while ago when I started searching for a Camaro in my area (Rochester NY) but I haven't made myself known yet.  I'm trying to find out if it is possible for me to get a 98 Camaro SS for around $10,000.  Any chance of this happening? I'm pretty flexible as far as miles go as long as the car was kept well.  I would get a Z28 if the SS thing won't happen but I really love the SS hood on the Camaro, and in my opinion it would be a little ricey to swap a SS hood onto a Z28.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hmm a 98 SS for 10 grand? you could prob find one for that price with about 120k-140k miles. Same with the Z28. but i dont think it would be rice to put a SS hood on a Z28. It just wouldnt belong. good luck

well if you'd be willing to settle for a trans am ws6 there's one here in alabama with 80k on it for $8000.  then you'd have and extra 2gs to come and get it and play with.

Hmm, ok I guess $10k was a little bit of a daydream.  What do you guys think would be a realistic price range for a 98 SS with around 100-120k miles on it?

If its in really good condition $15,000. Maybe about $13,500 if its a standard trans. have you tried www.autotrader.com

thats way over book.   I got my 98 TA for 9.5k with 70kmiles and it runs like a champ.  the pontiacs were just the "luxury" version of the camaro.  u paid a little more and got "creature comforts".  really didnt ammount to much.  but I could have gotten a z28 for 8k around here, ill be damned if i would spend an extra 7k for the SS package.

Well I just took a second look at Autotrader and I found <A HREF="http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=224937077&dealer_id=60466301&car_year=2000&marketZipError=false&search_type=both&num_records=25&keywordsfyc=&make=CHEV&model=CAM&transmission=&distance=200&address=14468&make2=&default_sort=priceDESC&advanced=&certified=&max_mileage=&max_price=14000&sort_type=priceDESC&min_price=&body_code=0&end_year=2002&keywordsrep=&color=&start_year=1998&drive=&search_lang=en&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&engine=&fuel=&doors=&style_flag=1&cardist=200">this</A>

I believe this guy listed this as a Z28 but it appears to be an SS.  Am I wrong?

pics are kinda fuzzy, but it looks like the z back end.  probably just has an SS hood. not uncommon.   But i wouldnt pay much more than that for a 00.  if you look around you can find a good price.  It took me about 3 weeks of looking and eventually found alisting  on either ls1tech or ls1.com for my TA.  like i said, 98 with 70K for 9.5 fully loaded

Ok, thanks Specter, and sorry about the pic link... this forum is different from what I'm used to, and my code is rusty, hehe.
