My friend has an 84 Z28 with the 305. He keeps braging to me about his dual snorkle intake.....does this improve performance at all? He also tells me that cutting an air conditioning belt will improver performance but it really doesnt. As i wast told on here before.

Minimal gains with the ac belt cut. It just spins there when the AC is off cuz it rides on a a bearing. When the A/C is on the clutch is engaged and then it has to work the pump. Again minimal gains. It might let the air be smoother and just a shade bit more air. Well with a Dodge Intrepid we cut the A/C belt and put on a custom CAI we were able to peel the tires from first to second. It was an Automatic too.

the internal combustion engine is for all sakes and purposes a large air pump. in simple terms, the more air you can pump in, the more power you can create. this of course is very abbreviated. but yes, a dual snorkel air filter will give more power, it might not be 100 horse, but you might feel it by the seat of your pants. dual snorkel air cleaners were very popular with pontiac in the late sixties but were removed due to drive by noise pollution.

He might have the H.O. motor which has a better cam so it can benifit from the dual snorkle.

like a vacuum cleaner. when it is clogged ( or in a car--the factory air intake) it loses suction/power...
