This is more for the S10 forum but I don't like them guys over there.
My mom has an 84 S10 Tahoe extended. The bottom end was going out and the tired old carbed 2.8 finaly took a big poo. I and my brother and a few others were looking for a later S truck with a 4.3 in it to replace hers but I caught her one day mumbling how she loves and missed her truck so I figured I had to fix that one. After thinking about a 3.4 in it I decided I am putting a 4.3 in it like I had planned long ago when I got a motor that had a spun rod bearing. I got another later 4.3 from my brother that had bolown a head gasket and its cylinders were wasted from water sitting in them so I used the two engines and built one and got a 97 Astro van as a donor for the accesories and fuel system, transmission and such. Unfortunatly as I was doing this I had surgery and had to postpone it for a while. When I finaly got back to it (a little here and there when I feel up to it) along with the Voetec 4.3 and 4L60E I also used the vans gauge cluster, hvac controls and headlight switch. All wired into the older system with the wiring from the dash of the van.
Well today I got a moving permit and took it out for a drive. MF got more HP than my Camaro (I just handed my mom that can of whoop ass to open up on me) Runs great aside from a map sensor I need to replace. Roll on the gas and it starts to spin the tire.(my mom is gonna like that or kill herself)
And Scott, No leaks! (knock on wood) And the S10 forum does not get a new post with every issue I had. (They are a bunch of knuckle heads any way. could never answer a question of mine so I had to figure the answer myself)
So If you need it Scott I have another 4.3 long block here for ya. hahahaha
(Now karma is gonna kick me in the nuts!)

the 4.3 is a great engine, in my truck, and its never had a problem, need to replace valve seals, burns oil on startup after its been sitting for a long time, but a strong, good engine. good to hear that you got her love running again
