Ok, so I bought a 1995 Camaro Z28 last month. It's my first car. I haven't been able to take it to the strip. I know that it has a '95 Corvette LT1 engine. That puts it at about 300hp, not including the headers. My car also has a hi-torque variable shift 4-speed trans. Any estimates on what I would run in the 1/4 mile?

saying it has a corvette lt1 engine is kind of just a sales pitch, since the LT1 in itself is in fact a Corvette Engine, as is the LS1.  They also are different than the corvette in horsepower.. at the wheels (stock) you're looking at 240-250rwhp and bhp at 270. and if it just has headers and no catback or aftermarket Y you could probably add (depending on the type of header) 10 or so rwhp.  the shift kit will just make your shifts more agressive (well thats what i understand, i have an M6 not an a4)

So i can see you (depenign on environmental conditions) the near stock, but slightly better  high 13s low 14s...

congrats on the new car =]

i want to say that there was a subtle difference in the corvette LT1 that actually made it 300hp.   i dont know what, but i asked once if the lt1s had the same thing the ls1's had where the fbodies were actually at the rated hp of the vettes, but i was told no, there really is a 30hp difference.    if he got one pulled from a vette and dropped in i would think he would have this power gain as well.   i would put it this way: he could probably pull on a stock lt1 Z, but his track times should be within ranges of stock cars, maybe on the low side

There was no difference between the F-body LT1 and the Corvette LT1 internally.  Many of the Corvettes got a 4-bolt main, but that's the only difference.  The difference in HP comes from the Corvette having a better flowing intake (the stock intake on the LT1 F-bodies is the most retarded thing ever...) and a better exhaust system.  Thus the reason SLP could advertise the SS as having 305 HP, it had a different intake and exhaust (for the advertised numbers, the exhaust was actually an option...).

id have to say a 13.9. i got a 95 z28 (dual cat version 285hp stock) with 95,000 miles a K&N CAI, cutout after y-pipe, and a trans go shift kit. i ran a 13.8 @ 101 mph with traction issues.
