im looking at either replacing the part that turns the fan on, or buying one of the kits out there. is it possible for me to adjust the current sensor so my fan turns on at 220 instead of 250 or 260? i was going through my small town yesterday, and it was hovering around 240, and the ambiet temps were around 55 with high wind. i have a 180 thermostat, and im running straight water for now until i get the cooling system up to spec. is it possible to just add an on/off switch as well as keeping the stock probe thing?

most people find the on/off switch as an undesireable temporary fix but, if that is what you want to do, there are two wires running to the fan cut them. ground one of the wires from the fan to the body somewhere. extend the other wire into the interior. attach a switch and run a wire to a hot lead. make sure and tape up the two existing fan wires to keep them from shorting out. You didn't mention what car you are talking about. But just in case, on many FI systems the fan are controlled by the computer depending on the input from the tempeature sensor. That same sensor is also used to control the fuel mixture, so you may want to change it out, if nothing else to make the car run properly.

oh, yes its in my 86 z28 with tpi. it might be a temp fix, but im looking for a better radiator too. i was told that an aluminum 4 core rad would be overkill. however, the summer's here in pa, which the heat rolling off the hay fields and blacktop, it isnt too hard to get temps near 100 degrees and 90% humidity, and higher temps when its dryer.
