Hey I got an 86 IROC-Z with a 350 out of a 92 Camaro, and the Fuel injection is jacked! It just spitts and sputters, it runs better with the Mass Air Sensor pulled off the trottle body, drivable but thats about it. Any ideas? Is it possible just to pull off the trottle body slap a carb on thier and screw the computer? If so how hard and suggestions on a good carb for a little extra get up and go?

your gonna get tons of advice on possible fixes for the injection. i don't do injection so i'll give you what i have to give. in order to put a carb you'll have to change intakes. once you get all the injection crap out of the way it's no biggy. holley 600 vacuum secondary would be perfect. i'm not sure how the distributor is gonna act after removing the injection tho. it is also controlled by the computer. as well as the lockup converter ... assuming it's automatic. if need be the distriubutor can be replaced with a standard HEI distributor and they make a pressure switch kit for the lockup converter. all real easy stuff. did it all to mine. cost wise if your looking on putting performance parts is approx. $600. thats including the Holley, MSD standalone distributor, decent dual plane intake, and the converter kit. if you just wanna get it running and go stock approx. $350. probably cheaper if you get used parts. What motor was in the 86 IROC originally?? If it was a 305 TPI did you change the Prom in the ECM (it will need a 350 one)??? If I remenber correctly the 86 ECM was a Bast--- year and you may need a new one. Also check the fuel pressure, it may be running rich and would check the Maf sensor, and the sensors on the firewall.

Is the transmission an electronic one?
