OK the big block is in and running.  the only issue we have is the headlights does anybody know where the fusible link is located. I checked the fusible links up by the radiator on the passenger side all were OK. also checked the switch there is no power there and the switched tested good any thoughts.

thanks Jim

even with the hitorque. those engine swap headers from hooker are huge and we have a low profile Milodon 7 qt pan on it to boot. we got the summit hitorque the wires face the oil pan if they faced the header I could get a socket on it stupid hi torque

well given your posting in the third gen that must be what you have and there is not much room in there for some of the stock parts. I did a 97 4.3 in my mom''s 84 S10 and it had a mini starter as stock OEM from an Astro van that I got some parts off of. Thank goodness to. A standard one would not fit in there because of the control arm.

yup I put a 454 into a 91 rs it had a 3.1. I tested a purple wire comming from the starter and it had no power this might be the culprit. If it is i think I''ll cut and splice it to the power terminal up front with a fusible link screw taking that starter back out.

I think purple is it. I remember now I did this very same repair for head lights not working on my brothers car.

BUT

I gotta see some pics of that Big Block in there.

Sweeet! But I already see a problem. Did you happent to check the hood clearance? I don''t think it will close all the way.
But yeah its nice to see some one did not take the common advice and go with a 350/383. I always say why not go with a 400 sb or better yet a 502 (just because a 502 is cheaper than a 572)
How far along have you gotten?

It''s all in and running drive line all hooked up I fixed the headlights tonight ( it was the red wire off the starter) The motor is a .030 over 454 we have a .552 .557 cam closed chamber heads 2200 stall converter hooked to a th350. we got a billet specialties serpentine kit I even retained the stock power steering. I put in new floors and sub frame connectors. I have to finish up the exhaust tomorrow and start getting it ready for paint.

I can''t wait!
Make sure its masked off and sealed up all around and under the car when its painted or else you''ll have over spray on that sweet motor.
