I have been offered a FREE 1969 GMC pickup in reasonable condition that ran up until recently acquiring a carburator problem.  A female relative of mine got in a divorce and her ex said she could get rid of the thing for all he cared.  The original title is supposedly lost.  I was wandering what you have to do in such a case to get a new title for a vehicle.

Get the V.I.N. off the vehicle, go to the DMV and have them print out another one.  It should cost like $50 (US) or some where around there.

Anybody know what the restrictions are for driving a salvaged titled vehicle in Florida?  With what I've been reading around online, it seems you can't even drive a salvaged vehicle in some states and other states you can but it has to be smog tested....  Anyone know?

i dont think a lost title constitutes a salvage title. just need a new one drawn up (from my experience).

I dont live in Florida, so I don't know, but talk to the DMV there.  If its like Wisconsin, you should be able to have the vehicle inspected by the DMV (after you fix it first), if they don't find anything wrong with the vehicle, they will give you a clean clear title.  But thats in Wisconsin, I don't know if Florida does that...check with the DMV.
