how do i check my car for problems??? like get codes and all that??? my buddy use to have a 3rd gen and he said there is a way... will somebody please help me out and let me know what i can get to test out my car for problems....

ok, thanks.. now how do i get those codes?? im sure i have to plug something in to my car?? what would that be called and where could i get it?? how much would $ it run about???

Your car comes with almost everything you need to get codes. If you have a paper clip or something close to it in the glove box then you have everything.

I just went to Autozone this weekend and they gave me a metal key that can pull the codes for you.
You will have to look in the manual to see what slots you need to put the key into to flash the codes.
the haynes manual will tell you how to get the codes as well and I believe it has a list of what the codes are as well.
