I can guarentee you a better time by doing two simple things. T-tops on and windows up....Ever heard of drag? Not as in drag racing but restiance to drag. With the tops on and windows up, you are one solid shell, where as with them open, you are slowing your car down with the air flowing into your car and creating restiance. Just thought I'd try and help.
Hows that Banks?

while your right, the t-tops & windows do cause drag, it doesnt really pay a big factor untill higher speeds. Hes probly not going over 70 in the 1/8th and while the drag does slow him down in theory, how he luanches would change a whole lot more. But yea, if you want to get a better time, t-tops on & windows up. But dont exspect to drop alot of time.

I agree with the launch by less weight of the T-tops, but I can bet you they were in the hatch along with the spare tire, jack, probably subs, amps, golf clubs and a dead body or two. Trying to do a wheel stand..

Rolling up your windows and putting you t-tops on will reduce drag, and will be noticable mainly at higher speeds, and longer amounts of time. Camaros are very aerodynamic, and by doing that what you are doing is increasing the downward force of pressure, and decreasing any lift generated. This makes your car hug the ground and helps with handling at higher speeds. Just as an informative cliff note, there is another element of drag called parasite drag. This is caused by things such as door handles and your radio antenna and you shouldn't worry about that too much in this instance. Racing in the 1/4 mile and 1/8 mile with a 3.8 Camaro you shouldn't worry about drag very much or at all. In those situations you should mainly worry about torque and hp, as an uneven air flow for a matter of seconds shouldn't be too big of a factor in your times.

yea the pic of my car with the tops out was me just screwing around.....and the tops being out did have a affect on the time by about .4 secs. And they wernt in the trunk but in one of my friends cars. I figured it would be a great photo op.
And I did beat the ricer it hada Acura integra motor swap with headers heads intake exhaust and Nitrous. Im not sure what else but I kinda figure anyone with that much work would have more done.
