LOUDEST EXHAUST

i got a 98 trans am and im looking to get a new exhaust for it im looking for the loudest street legal exhaust setup without doin a cam. i was looking at the slp loudmouth but whats the best set up out there that sounds great but lets people know u mean business?? let me know asap thanks

not only was it done, its been over done. Just search around man. Youtube helps me out alot kuz i watch video clips. (just to save you the trouble id suggest finding some nice Long Tube headers and a magnaflow catback.) Do you have a WS6 or just trans am? thow up some pics man!

Yeah I looked at a 96 with a magnaflow before I got my car. I know it is different but imagine it would sound almost the same, and it sounded really nice, throaty but not too raspy either, kind of best of both worlds just a little less.

yeah, the gm exhuast on our cars arent that bad, but ive got the rectangular tips and they are fuuuuuugly. Magnaflows come with nice 3" rounded tips and id assume a 3(?) chambered exhuast... but im not sure about that i may be getting the chambers mixed up but i know one is better than the other two.

I think it is a 3 inch in and dual 2.5 out to a 3.5 inch tip. Either way they look good being all stainless and sound pretty good too.

well i had the slp loudmouth catback and it was loud and sounded great but it dont compare to wat i have now, i set off alarms when i start, it rev, it and drive by cars and the sound is great, i have pacesetter lt headers with the texas speeds x pipe system and it is by far wat u want if u want pple to look(cops as well lol) u want to set off alarms and have a great and way loud car ... 

Yeah, that sounds fun. honestly i like the way Corvettes sound... its indescribable but its beautiful.. SLP is ok id still go with Magnaflow.

yeah, if u want the loudest sound around, then i would go with slp. i always listen to sound clips on youtube and when  comparing slp to the other brands, slp defiantly sounds the loudest. magnaflow, flowmaster, borla all sound pretty decent, but if u want that old muscle car sound, i think that slp offers that.

Well theres a difference between obnoxious loud like 98SS described and deep toned loud.. if that makes sence.. like running with open headers... its LOUD and obnoxious.. where as having the stock system isnt as loud but it sounds ALOT better and your ears wont bleed. Shop around for what you like and can afford, youtube has always helped me out with stuff like this so search around and see what you like etc.

maybe you need to hear the x pipe before u talk its not a loud that sounds like a chevy truck with some glass packs.. sounds more like a old skool muscle car that ur stareing at wishing u had and it is very loud and makes heads turn and still has a quality sound, i would ditch a cat back system if i were you if loud is wat u want....

If you're going to run an X pipe without any muffling devices why don't you just run open headers?

Either way, in my opinion completely open exhaust is way to loud, I know when I started my car with open headers it was completely ridiculous.  I personally love the sound of my exhaust, it's loud but not ridiculously loud.  Either way, headers, Y-pipe and a good cat back will get you a good sound that'll be loud enough.

the man wants it loud and a cat back isnt gonna be loud in caps lol ok guys and they do come with a muffler but its more like a slp high flow cat lol but i love it..... i mean not many pple set off alarms in there apartments when they start there car let alone rev it lol come on u gotta love it

My friend had a brand new dynomax race bullit that he was going to put on his mustand so we put it on my car and It sounds damn near perfect!  It is a 4 inch round muffler like the slp I have it right after the y with a turndown on it!.The rest of my exhaust is stock for now.. Its load but a clean loud not old truck with no muffler sound or as loud as slp but still sounds great!! ... I have ran open header and it sounded good to me only at certain rpm's!  Just my opinion though??  Plus it is only a 40 dollar muffler from summit.

I still agree with Spartan, open headers is just too rediculous for a car on the street.  If you're at the track it's one thing, but when it's a good idea to wear earplugs when you're driving down the highway so you don't go deaf it's another.  My exhaust is in essence "open" but I have resonator tips to quite it down a bit, and I have piping that runs all the way back so it helps quiet it down.  

yeah i will try to get a clip but its a clean sound sry to say but i have the exhaust and ur listening to pple that talk b.s and giv hear say if u get wat i  mean.... i am surprized that it is a good sound an not a glass pack horrible sound i love it and i had slp loud mouth before that and it was more of a ****ty sound to me with the backfireing but for a loud sound that will make everyone look i would go with the texas speeds x pipe i love it, it is very loud in the car but im one of those guys that turn the radio off roll the windows down and listen to it but most cat backs are not loud enough for me and dont sound great pple talk them up and they just turn me off ...

Yes we are all feeding you BS and hear say... We know nothing compared to this ONE guy... No one else has exhaust on their cars so none of us know. I havent heard COUNTLESS clips on the internet and listend to certain cars IN person at all chevy car shows down the street from my house in the summer.

again.. one guys opinion against a few others. Im not saying that custom exhuast is bad, im sure his car sounds sick... but his opinion of good might not be yours... He may like driving around with exhaust so loud it makes ricers fart cans look decent but you may not. In other words it may sound good for a certain amount of time but after awhile you might get sick of NOT being able to hear the radio at a respectable level or hold a conversation with a passenger... While exhaust may turn heads i doubt the ladies want to listen while your loud engine drones out conversation...

I myself was actually thinking about doing duals with and X pipe dual high flow cats and side exits but it would cost alot more and only sound alittle bit better and alittle bit louder.

All in all go look around, listen to his clip, listen to borla, listen to magnaflow, flowmaster, systems with headers the works before you take one persons word for it... kuz once you pay for it if you dont like it you have to pay again for a new one.. exhaust is one of those things that fit you.. not something that one other or even a couple of guys told you sounds good. Like i said before our opinions all differ on what sounds good.

If you want the loudest exhaust possible, run open headers, anything down from that is personal preference. Keep in mind what Spartan brought up about the radio or a conversation.

i personally like listening to the radio while im going on a freeway trip but short distances i usually dont worry about it too much and listen to my exhaust. So i want an exhaust that is LOUD so other people can hear it, but doesnt drone out my stereo. Hence why im going Dynomax headers, custom Y, high flow cat, and magnaflow catback.. Ive heard it and it sounds good for what i want.

It's all a matter of personal preference. Like it was mentioned before, do your research before you make a decision, especially if you are on a budget.
 
Check on youtube (however some of the videos are not as good as others- use your judgement)

Just get yourself an electric cut-out. So if you really want LOUD all you have to do is flip a switch, and there you are pretty much running open headers and turning everybody's head. Then as soon as you get tired of it (and most likely you will) flip it again, and you got the nice, and comfortable rumbling of the catback of your choice.
