I just bought a used '97 for my son as his first car. It's a standard, V6, automatic, silver metallic. Bought it from an original owner with just 77K on it. Real good shape, but still has opportunities for cleanup and a little trim work.
You may fairly accuse me of living vicariously through my kid. When I was a year out of high school, a friend of mine had a '68 Z28 (302 with a 4-bbl, I believe). I loved that car, and he even let me drive it occasionally. Envy couldn't begin to describe it, since my car was a '65 Bel-Air 4ds with a straight 6 and a slush-o-matic.
My son's obviously beside himself, and yes, we've already had "the talk".

i think he meant standard as in standard model..like not z28 or ss or anything
