I chose the carbon fiber ones because MuscleRodz called me up and said "we want to donate some carbon fiber header gaskets"

Apparently they are incedibly strong and won't ever burn out, either.

Sounds like a good story. Have you been documenting the build? We may want to do a story on this once complete if you are interested.

Yep, will be documenting every bit of the build. We would love to have a feature on the car!

Sounds good. Give me a call when you complete it and before you present it to him.
Look forward to seeing what you did. Best of luck to you with it.

Welcome! Wow, what a great thing to do for your brother in law. I'm sure it'll be a super car once it's done. Is it going to be a surprise or does he know about it?

Just got back from the TA Nationals, so I haven't had a chance to get the 2" cowl hood that Firewheel Classics donated home yet, it's in my office at work.

But I did get a LS1 master cylinder from a good friend of mine.

Blade, I'll keep ya posted. I'm about to put a set on my 98 TA to see how they work before I put a set on the 68.

camaroguy, he has no idea what we're doing for him, it's gonna be a total surprise.

If its not too late, save any paperwork that you find attached to the old gas tank.  It might be the original build sheet, sometimes they put them there.

No, it was for 4birdman.

I believe it is gone. The car had no trunk floor and rear frame rails due to rust before the previous owner got a hold of it. I'd imagine that anything that was there is long gone.

Got a new black carpet set in today donated by Rick's First Gen!

Sept 29th is the day we're grabbing the car. The truck is reserved and the trailer borrowed, the build officially begins on Sept. 30th!

Got some new parts in! Thanks to WS6 on the pro-touring board for donating this LS1 valley pan!

And thanks to Gail Day Automotive Memorabilia for donating this T56 6-spd shift ball!

And we also recieved this blue LED Raptor shift light donated by R&D Speed!

I also just got back from AutoFair yesterday. I took a bunch of flyers and handed out about 50 to different vendors and told them what I was doing. Most of them seemed very interested, and all listened to me, so that was cool! I got the shift ball from a vendor, hopefully we get some more from it as everyone gets back home from the show!

It is all set up to pick up the car on the 29th. The guy installed new front floorboards, a new door skin, a hood, and a new dash panel. Here are the pics he sent me so I know what I'm picking up on the 29th.  8)

And also dropped the 5.3L off at HRT Performance today for the rebuild! These guys know their stuff and are good guys to deal with. Helps that Joel is a good friend, but I'd take my work there anyway. :D

And check out those sexy powdercoated AMC valve covers on the bench. (yes, I do their powdercoating for them  )
