i have a 84 camaro with a 305 engine manuel tranny. i am a novice mechanic who needs help. my camaro turns over, the fuel pump is working, the fuel filter was clogged so i put in a new one, the car is still sarved for fuel. if i spray starting fluid into the carb is fires right up, then of course stops running. i need advice where to go next, and what steps to take to fix this prob. summer is coming and i'm bummed out. thanks in advance.

is it carbed? i know that my 83 was, so if you remove the air cleaner, with the car not running, watch and see how the fuel looks going in..perhaps you have a carb problem. that way, you will also know if the fuel is getting to the carb

its a 4 barrell carb , the carb is not getting fuel to it. its getting fuel all the way into the fuel filter area but thats it. the org fuel filter was blocked thats why i changed it out. its pumping fuel fine up to that point but the carb isnt getting fuel. thats why i stated it willl start with starting fluid, its starved for gas.

has nothing to do with timing, the fuel isnt getting from the fuel filter area into the carb. the car runs fine witha continous spraying of statrting fluid. i have to figure out way the gas stops at the filter, whats blocks or no good from that point on.
thanks

Is it a stock replacement fuel filter or an aftermarket replacement? Did you put the fuel filter in backwards? Some will not flow if reversed.

correct..check the direction of the filter, and then start checking points between the carb and filter to find your issue.
