right now i have a 750 eledbrock performer series carb. would it be reasonable to get a performer eps 800 carb? the motor is mildly tuned, cam, port and polished, and intake, and will be getting an exhaust upgrade shortly.

or better yet, what is the best carb i could get, for a street/strip application. something with good performance, mid range rpm power.

If your carb is working OK now, you won't gain much from an extra 50 CFM. What manifold are you using??

well, right now, i have an edelbrock manifold. it isnt the performer series. in fact, i have no idea which one it is. it just sais eledbrock on it, and it looks nothing like the performers. it is very low-rise, and looks rather restrictive at higher rpm's. the 750 is working fine, but the eps 800 supposably has more performance benefits then the performer such as a "high capacity accelerator pump" and "high lift boosters". i was hoping to team it up with a performer rpm air gap manifold. but should i just keep the 750 and have it rebuilt? it does look quite ugly on the inside.

I would just get the manifold & see how the 750 works out with it. IMO the new manifold will do a lot more than a new carb. If the carb looks ugly give it a good cleaning with carb cleaner. If the new manifold flows much better than the old one, you may need to go to bigger jets. You probably wind up having to make a hole in the hood. You can also experiment with different size spacers between the carb and manifold.

yea i would love to cut a hole in teh hood, ive seen some camaros with that look and it looks bad. but first i have to buy a stock fiberglass hood, because my hood has the louvers in it. i will give the carb a littlte dooshing with some carb cleaner, and adjust it if need be. the only reason i havent bought much for the car itself is because i wanted to save for a 2nd generation or even a 1st generation and drop my motor in it. but i will definitaly get a new air gap manifold and probalby keep the carb i got. thanks a lot.

get a small 450 holley cause any chevy with a carb bigger than a 600 is just way to much

you are obviously an idiot. a stock 350 performs best with a 650 cfm, and i have been bored and stroked, so i now have a 750. and who are you to say that, you own a junkstang. ide hate to see how your car runs, from what you just said, probably like crap.

Hey, give the guy a break, he must have been "thinking??" about an old carburated 2.8 Chevy. LOL

he wasnnt thinking very much appearently. oh yea and just for future reference, when i said a hole in the hood with a air clean sticking out looked bad, i meant badass not bad looking. just realized that.

I feel like the 750 cfm carb will fit you good, if you start going to big you might start losing your bottom end on the street. The new intake sounds nice, but you might be better with the 750.

ok ty, i gave it some though and it isnt really necessary to stuff the biggest carb possible. i have some damn good throttle response and street drivability right now and i would wanna risk screwing it up. tankx a lot for your help.
