ok so my grandpa thinks that i may have a bad plug and its been awhile since ive changed em out so i wanna get new plugs and new wires. I was lookin at this LT1 MSD/NGK Spark Plugs & Wires Combo but it has two types of plugs TR-55 and TR-6 but the TR-6 say its colder one heat range than the TR-55 does that mean i should just stick with TR-55? The combo includes: 1 Plug Wires and 8 NGK TR55/TR6 Plugs  for under 100 bucks.

All in all two questions TR-55 or TR-6 and i know MSD is a good brand but how about NGK? I read a positive review on this combo but there was only one so to those of you who are more knowledgeable is this a good combo?

NGK supposedly makes a good plug - I've only ever used NGKs in my 240SX race car, with no complaints, and just put a set of the Iridium IX plugs in the Camaro, but they haven't been in there long enough to tell anything. On the heat range I would stick with a stock type plug unless you have done a lot to the engine, or regularly run it hard for long periods. A colder plug will generally be a little harder to ignite under normal operating conditions; probably not enough that you would notice but still why push the issue.

Now, as for the MSD wires... I had the car on a dyno last week, and it was acting a little eratic; one pull would be ok, the next one (with no changes to the car) would be down as much as 8-10 ft. lbs. on torque, and we couldn't figure it out. One of the things the shop owner suggested was to ditch the (new) MSD wires, that they had seen people having a lot of problems with them. Now normally I would take that kind of advice with a grain of salt, but these guys have been building and working on race cars for many years, so I give their comments a little more credibility than I might give some others. I haven't had time to try changing the wires (they suggested just a good set of oem-type wires), so I'm still not sure what the problem is, but it is still there so I can't rule out the wires. I've also browsed a couple of other Camaro forums, and have heard other guys complaining about problems after installing MSD wires, so you can take that for what it's worth.

ah, ok. ill be avoiding the msd wires then. Thanks. Have you heard anything different about Accel or Taylor? If all else fails ill just get some AC Delcos.

I had the Taylors and 1 of the the boots got dry and brittle from the heat of my headers and actually started to fall apart! Luckly I still had an MSD that I replaced with the Taylors laying around and used it. That's about the only biff I had with the Taylors. Come to think of it I still have the MSD on the engine! 1 MSD and 7 Taylors hahaha!

I ran Accel on my 68' with no problems.

I have...crap, I can't remember...MSD or Mallory on my 68' now and have no problems.  I think they are MSD, I am not a fan of Mallory.

I will probably go with the AC Delco OEM for my 94'.

I have NGK in my 68' also right now with no issues at all.

I have had horrible experiences with Accel plugs, I would stay away from them
