Anyone mount their subs on the rear deck(I don't know what it is actually called) of their car. I have them down where the t-tops go for the winter but I want to be able to take them out and have them secured come summer time. I drew up a design in CAD but don't know if I will be able to transfer the picture properly. If anyone wants the file who also has CAD I would be more than happy to give it to them.

I think I got the picture those dimensions are 6.75, 4, and 39 inches by the way incase you can't se them well. The box would also be 14 inches from front to back and is made for a 9x10 amp and 2 10inch subs.

Well i know nobody responded but I figured I would show you all what i came up with anyway. It is the first picture. All of the wires are hidden neatly behind the rear seat where you cant see them. And the whole box can come out in a few minutes because I have external plugs for everything on the box. I will get better pics once the snow melts. http://www.xanga.com/camaroz2899

only problem with it being on the reardeck, is that people will beable to see it.  The sun also dries out speakers.  And when people who see it, and people want it, people take it. Along with your rear window.

I know which is why I am currently working on a cover of some sort to make it look like a pile of ****.

i would leave where T-tops are and put T-tops in back seat - what i did. other than that, on deck will work, limo tint your window =)

Yeah the back window is legal to tint right? Must be a pin to do a window that big with that shape though. And would the defrosters cause the tint to peel or anything?

Click on the link for the picture in like my 3rd post it shows where it actually is and the whole reason I built the box is so it didn't go in the hole so I can have good sound AND the t-tops out at the same time. I am not comfortable putting them in the back seat, and I drive other people a lot.

And thanks for the link I may try that some other time but there is no way I am paying over 300 for all that stuff.

I can't get to your attachment, but....subs should always go in an "enclosed" type of space for better sound.  The trunk is ideal.  Why not put them in there?  I put 2 10" boxed subs in my son's 95 camaro - fit neatly right in the trunk - makes for much better bass response.  Putting them on the rear "deck" seems unconventional and...as others have said..makes them very obvious for anyone looking to rip you off.

that actually depends, a ported subwoofer box, is actually best in open area, which is why alot of jeep/convertable owners use those. ported boxes can also get much louder, and maintain clearity (louder does NOT mean more thump/bass), but a ported box cant handle as many watts as a closed box can. i prefer closed boxes, and closed boxes are best for beginners anyway. it's simplicity at it's best, can basically stick any sub in any closed box, with right wattage and it'll be fine.

ive got a closed box for my 12 and it BUMPS and is soooo loud and remains alot of clarity, i threw it down in my trunk. My entire car shakes.. its killer lol.

Heres a idea. Now i dont really know how the t-tops fit in the trunk but, they make single sub boxes that fit in the cut out on the left and right side of your trunk still leaving you with the lager hole in the middle.

I agree with sparten and 96enko!  I would just put the t tops in the back seat or in the space behind your seat....thats what I did.  Unless you have 5%  window tent??

i dont have T-tops so idk where they would go but that stealth kit would clean things up nicely, its worth it imo.

ive got my subs in the same place as your, i didnt personally do it, it came like that when i bought it. i think its cool but im scared that sombody may bash out my window and steal them(im kind of paranoid) but yeah like you said, i dont feel comfortable either with just putting them where my t tops go and putting the t tops in the back seat in the summer
