If built right the TH-350 can handle the HP.
The best place to get a TH-400 is from a truck, The output shaft I think is different from a car , as most of the trucks have the yoke bolted to the shaft and use a slip joint in the middle of the driveshaft not at the trans, I see them all the time in wrecking yards.
If you dont know how to build them yourself then I wouldnt even mess with the wrecking yards and just buy one from a vender that sells them out right. I havent bought any from a vender so I dont know who is good or not.
You will have to change your crossmember, and front yoke, and shorten the driveshaft
I have heard of some building the 200R trans to handle a lot of HP and its an overdrive also

A turbo 400 is stronger in stock form, but a 350 is easier to come by. A turbo 350 takes less HP to spin than a 400. A well built 350 will handle a lot.

a well built later-than-87 700r4 can also handle quite a bit of power. not sure about 500 hp, but ive seen supercharged c4's running a stock 700r4

3/4 ton 2wd pick ups, suburbans, some vans and a few other HD type vehicles, they have slip and solid mount yokes, the 400 slip yoke is bigger. There is such a thing as a TH375 but there pretty rare its a 400 with a 350 yoke.
