No one's dead, that's good. Now whoever owns the Camaro will be pissed. I would ass-u-me that the U-haul hit the Camaro and the owner of the Camaro got hurt.
Owman that is gonna cost the insurance company. You just can't go write a check for a burned up Maro'.

Unless the owner has proof that the car is worth more, the insurance company is only going to offer book value, no matter how much it is worth to the owner.

im sure with a car that nice he has collectors insurance, which would mean the car was appraised, so he will get the true value, not just blue book for a base camaro from 69

I can't even look at that picture. Makes me sick just to think what if that happened to me? That would be just my luck. I have too much love for the 'Maro to see it in that kind of shape. If I ever had a car like that and that happened to me I'd have to go get some antidepressants...just plain sickening

I had an accident in a parking lot once where a freaking tard just started backing up as i was stuck in a line with no where to go and he plowed right into the side of my '67. I was on a date but could'nt refrain from laying into that guy. It was the worst and the best feeling of my life. My passenger door was screwed but so was he. She wanted to go home and i went to the shop! Goodtimes...

I read the comments people left about this, and some idiot said , "I think thats a Chevelle SS" what an idiot, maybe the hideaway headlamps should have clued him in. and if he did not know, then he should not have commented

The insurance company will do just that. but what they offer, and what they end up paying are two different things.
I hope the guy get's whatever he thinks is fair if he is not responsible.

Just in the interest of full disclosure, I posted that picture and story because, as a vintage BMW enthusiast and owner, I knew someone would be concerned about that accident, and might know the owner or at least serve as a reminder to keep the insurance coverage up to date for others with similar cars. I drive through that area every day (sometimes with my old BMW's) and my heart goes out to whoever's Camaro that was that got rear-ended. Cars are meant to be driven, but it's always sad to see things like this happen.

The owner of that car is known by a member on another forum I visit often along with a bunch of his and our fellow car enthusiusts. last i read the owner had some severe back injury and a buddy of his was paralyzed from the waist down. The accident was caused by an erratic cement truck driver that then fled the sceen .In all there were 5 vehicles involved in that crash. From what i remember reading the owner was actualy driving in another vehicle he owned his friend was driving the camaro. yet both involved in the crash. talk about a bad day

On my Maro, I had someone, never found out who..., backed into my front end. Damage to the bumper, header piece and grille were miminal, but the insurance company wanted to total loss the car. This was about 15 years ago, now I have antique auto insurance...
