Am restoring my 67 Camaro RS SS convt. 350 with air, that's been apart for 25 years. Where does the vacuum assist cannister for the HVAC mount? I know it goes under the hood somewhere? Anyone have a photo of the placement? Thanks...Hipirn

I cant find anything about a vacume assist canister. Are you sure you are clling it the right name? Do you have a picture of it?

Thanks for the post cplthomas; I don't have a picture at hand but it looks like a 1/3rd of a quart sized juice can, that is it is as big around as a quart can but only about a 1/3rd as long and has a small hose connection on either end, it has a small bracket on it, one end goes to intake manifold vacum the other goes to the vacuum controled heater/airconditioning slide control in the dash.I suspect that air conditioned early convertibles are an oddity! Maybe that's why not many know about it, though I did see one mounted on an air conditioned Chevelle, on that application it was mounted to the to the HVAC unit on the firewall. The bracket on mine doesn't want to fit there! I took pictures of this stuff 25 years ago before disasembly unfortunatley they didn't survive poor storage.. hipirn

had my 68 left fender off today and you are in luck,
mine is behind the left fender well mounted to the fire wall and has a hose or two going to it,
looks like a small soup can.

Thanks 1stgenclone. That is exactly where mine must have been, it's the only place on the firewall with holes that fit the bracket... Also I was rummaging around some old notes I made on tear down (25 years! ago) and lo and behold I found a diagram amongst them showing the same location as you describe... Mystery solved, thanks again....Phil (hipirn)
