oh gosh durnit u guys!   there arent enough of us that frequent this board to not all know this by now.

heres something for u, my car made 331RWhp when I had a 2.5" catted ypipe, catback, lid, and lower intake scoop and EGR/AIR deletes.  thats in the 380hp range and the guy running the dyno said it was high, but still in acceptable ranges for a mildly modified car.  the motors were unerrated from the factory.

my dyno slips are in the OFFICIAL HORSE POWER THREAD in general tech.    if u guys have any u should post them up

I know the LS1 is underrated, but I believe the the LT1 is too. Also, most of the difference in hp is due to the LS1's higher redline. But don't get me wrong, I think the LS1 is the lighter, more powerful, just plain BETTER engine of the two!

Also, let's compare official rated numbers or else we're talking apples and oranges. LT1=285, LS1=305. Of course both of those are underrated somewhat.

i havent heard of the lt1 being underrated.  most people accept the 285.

as for the redline, my car made 310rwt across the band, about as flat as u could ask for.

if we do official rated THEN we are talking apples and oranges.  because there is no official rule that you need to be officially off by a certain official ammount of the official rating .   ls1s are generally about 40hp underrated, terminator cobras are about 30hp underrated stock.  the SC cobalts and ions were about 20hp off.  rwhp smooths the board.  and track times.  the accepted ls1 times are almost a full second faster than the accepted lt1 times.  a little hp and a little weight wont get u a full second

I have a Cobalt SS Supercharged and yes they are underrated too; I sneak up on a lot of people with it.  However, please don't act like an LS1 Camaro is a full second faster than an LT1 Camaro. It's not. The LS1 is definitely faster, but no reason to exaggerate.

13.2 average for the ls1 showroom stock with the record at 12.8, and a video posted just last week on here of an all stock + drag radial car going 12.6.    14.1 for the lt1 average with a good number dipping into the high 13s.    the lt1 is considered to be a drivers race with the edge to the camaro against a 99-04 mustang GT which is also low 14 to 14 flat.      reading the numbers people ACTUALLY get is not exaggerating.   now, if i had, for instance, made up, or embelished a number, now THAT would be exaggerating

(u get 2 of those for that post)
