you guys........ monsoon is like the bose from 93-96
nothing is interchangable and the speakers are all f-ed up ohms... with each individual amp

the ohms are a little goofy, but thats because of the monsoon amp that drives the monsoon system, not the head unit.  in a monsoon system the tweeters are the only things driven right off the HU.  and they are 4ohm standard.

if nothing is interchangable why was I able to plug my new pioneer HU straight in with no problems?  still using factory amp.

monsoon --> Pioneer
base ---->  pioneer

pioneer = constant
therefore

monsoon <---->  base

just make sure the harnesses match up or do some splicing and you will be ready to rock.   personally, unless ur getting the monsoon HU for free id go get a better aftermarket deck.  the factory charges outrageous prices for monsoon parts.  $80 for EACH paper woofer in my TA sail panels.   I got a PAIR of SVC 6.5" woofers to go in there which works amazing and is about 7x the quality of stock for 70 bucks shipped.

some other systems like the mustang Mach1000 as well as their sub-high quality system (which is a ginormous pita....)  have a lead wire coming from the HU to the amp.  without the ford HU the amp wont turn on.  this is a common problem with high end factory systems.  fortunately chevy decided to make up partially for the crappy rear end with a user friendly stereo.  the factory amp uses a remote wire similar to any other after market amp and will thus turn on with pretty much any head unit.

So if the HU says Monsoon, you have the whole monsoon set up? I was wondering cause I have the 6 speakers, but they sound like crap. I too want to replace them just to have that little better sound quality (not really going for a whole "system"). And you are saying I have to be careful with the OLMS and all that. Does any one know what the ratings are for the stock speakers so I can match it with aftermarket?
