Hi guys,

does anyone know if you have a normall stock delco radio CD and trade it for a monsoon unit if you get into trouble?
Maybe speaker problems orso?

Thanks for replies.

I believe the only difference between the Monsoon and Delco headunits used between 1997 and 2002 is the "Monsoon" and "Delco"  lettering.  If I'm not mistaken if you had the Monsoon lettering on the headunit then you had the Monsoon speakers as well.  The two should be interchangealbe.  Probably the only problem you will run into, if any, is that the Monsoon headunit you are switching in may require a password to unlock it if it is relocated.  That will be cause by Theftlock.  You can always go to a Chevy service department and they will unlock it for $50-$60, or if you go here: http://www.corvetteradios.com/corvetteradios_009.htm it shows you how to unlock it yourself, it costs about $26 for them to give you the unlock code.

the unit is theft lock free so no problems there.
im just not sure what Monsoon stands for, i know that the monsoon units came with 6 or 8 speakers (maybe more?) and my conv. has only 4 speakers, 2 frond and 2 rear.
The output of a monsoon goes to 6 (or more) speakers, the connectorplug is the same as my old one.
Isnt it possible that my 4 speakers wil "overload" and break?

Bose speakers are interchangable with Monsoon speakers.  I swapped out the two Monsoon speakers in my backseat with my brother's old Bose speakers.  The rear seat Bose speakers sound better than the rear seat Monsoon speakers...bigger magnets.  Cars with the Monsoon system have 6 speakers, 2 in the front, two in the back seat, and two in the trunk area.

Theres some information on here that may or may not help you: http://www.z28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64468

If I decided to replace the monsoon cd changer with an aftermarket alpine stereo do I have to rewire the ENTIRE speaker system to get new speakers in?
