Some things are better if you take them apart yourself rather then looking at pics and manuals. That way its  hands on.I suggest taking it apart yourself to get to know your car better. Whenever I have to do something new on my 69 camaro I take pictures with my digital so I know where every nut and bolt goes. Nothing is better then wrenching on your car.

I imagine that you've already solved the problems by this time but for this and other assembly questions I'd suggest getting a factory assembly manual.  It'll be an endless help on most all of the projects you'll have rise in the future!
