flickering

I got two twelve inch JL Audio, kicker 1800W amp, and 4 kicker speakers. When my bass hits (med volume) all my lights dim REALLY badly. I just bought a brand new battery. Now Ive been to many stores around here and they all say different things.

Autozone: D-Block first then maybe capacitor
Circuit City: "D-Block wont do s**t" then said bigger power wires then maybe cap. (if im not mistaken wouldnt a bigger power wire take MORE power and thats my problem)
Sound Sensation: get a cap

What should I do?
higher output alternator? got a 105 amp in now

Id say if you have the money go for a second battery and a cap. If not, atleast get the cap. The cap should fix it the problem your talking about. What happens is, when your bass hits, the amp is taking so much power that, for the first instant, it can't keep up and decreases the power to other sources. A cap will store power, so when the bass hits, it draws from the cap.

Now with a second battery, do I wire that to my alternator or what? I have no idea how to do that or anything.

It's a bit complicated to do on your own, requiring a bit more of wire and a T block or two. For most systems, a cap should fix the problem. Now If you had multiple amps, you'd need the second battery. But for your problems, the cap should do it.

get a 150 alt. and a nother 1000 cca battery and mount it in the trunk (wire battery's together)

Don't get a cap.

Larger power wire may or may not help. What gauge wire is currently used for your install? The bigger the better. On DC power if your power wire is too small of a gauge then it restricts the max power potential that can be used. Think of it as bottle necking.

Try the "big three" under your hood first. Stock wiring sucks.

Then it is off to a bigger alt.

And don't get a cap.

caps do nothing really.

Yup. Think of them as a band aid to a real problem. A band aid that is too small for such a large wound :)

Alright i got a optima battery and its still doing it, so im guessing the next step is maybe two batterys? or higher output alternator?

how would i hook up two batteries to one alternator? or where can I get a high output alternator?

(i have two batteries already)

Have you done the big three?
