Hello,
Im doing a carb swap on my 79 camaro with a 305 and figured i may as well swap the intake at the same time.  I need some advice on picking the right intake.  Right now i have a stock iron four barrel intake on the car.  my first choice was the edelbrock performer. Is it necessary to buy an adapter plate to bolt a square bore edelbrock carb to the standard performer? It seemed to be a spreadbore setup. Next I saw the performer EPS in the Jegs catalog. Would this provide a worthwhile performance upgrade for the extra $50?  Then after looking some more I found professional products intakes which seem to be exactly like the edelbrock without the name.  So after all that research im still confused on what intake I really want...all I know is I want to keep the powerband from idle to 5500 and to have as much low end torque as possible...any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks

just stay with a simpler dual-plane intake. you're not really going to get much of a power advantage with just an intake on that engine so just stay on the cheaper end of things and you will be happy. the 305 can be bogged down very easily and doesn't really have the lowend torque to be able to handle a big intake

get a Weiand Stealth Dual Plane High Rise. it will out perform the edelbrock, cost less and will fit under your hood. Sick

with the type of results you said you are looking for, you want to stay away from any type of "highrise" manifolds. the are going to put your powerband in a higher range than what you want

the most I would go with, might be an Edelbrock RPM Air-gap, but that might even be a little bit higher in the RPM range than what you are looking for
