I recently pulled an engine out of my friends backyard. I tore it down lastweek and started researching the casting numbers. The casting number on the odd numbered cylinder side of the block behind/below the distributer is 3914678. The date code is F 18 8 (June 18,1968) and it has a sufix code of MS stamped on the deck (even nubered cylinder side). The pistons I punched out were .030 over so it has been punched out. The block hasn't been decked though. My question is: could this be a '68 302 or maybe a Vette 327, or is it just another 350 out of a Chevelle.... This is a great site. Lots of info. If anyone can shed some light on the subject it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've got that all written down at my shop. I'm going in for a bit tomorrow. I'll be sure to grab it and let you know.

The numbers on the pad are as follows    18N475006     V07I5MS   F18 8   and the little watch face stamping is pionting to the 6 o'clock position. If any of this information is helpful let me know. Also with the 3914678 casting number could this number also translate to a 302?
