I recently moved to a house with a well . When I wash the cars I get hard water spots . Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening ? For now I wash an area and then dry it . Then I move along to a different area . This is quite time consuming . I wash 3 vehicles , the worst ( time wise ) is my Tahoe . Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Use Meguires car soap, it will help. Do not wash in the sun or when the paint is hot. Cool down the paint.
You will need a water softener. I used to have well water many years ago and no water softener. It really sucked.
Also, rinse with a flow of water, instead of a spray. It will help fight the spotting.

Use clay bar or a cleaner wax to get all the water spots out. (clay bar will work better) Get a Mr. Clean Car wash kit. The soap is good for reducing the water spots while drying and the filter aspect of it will take out MOST of the hard water. http://www.detailyourcar.com/shop/index.php?page=shop/flypage&product_id=406&category_id=987bce05719c26da62e9e7b39e1d78ba&ps_session=bcf92484e9cbf92ae3a945f2e5480631 That is the car wash I use and I can let it drip dry with out filtered water and without manually drying it.

if it is that bad where they spot even before you can get to your next area of the car, you need to buy one of those gimmicky car wash kits that install on the end of your hose. they work because they have a filter built into it. if your water is that hard you might go through filters quicker than most, but I think you'll be much happier

I have a few of friends that use them and I am really surprised how well they work. one of them has hard water and doesn't even wipe his car down and it comes out spot-free except on his windows(again, because he doesn't even wipe it)

If your water is that hard, the filter in the car wash kit will last about 4 washs, at least thats how long they lasted me at my last house where we had very hard water. FWIW if your water is that hard and you do not have a water softner, you will have bigger problems with the house down the road. Things the water heater, dish washer, washing machine etc will get screwed up big time over the long run.
