and i dont know what kind of GOOD gas mileage they expect to get out of a 281 hp 3.6L v6...if its putting out that much power then its not near that 35 mpg goal....even new civic 4 cylinders are getting by at 37 mpg with 125ish hp.

my 98 civic A4 w/OD 1.6L 127horse  gets an average of 28-30 mpg...

start researching towards decent power with this 35mpg goal, after that is met, then start building flashy new cars around those powertrains.

but for the next two-three years crank out as many v8 camaros as you can so that there can still be a few left over when i have the money to get a used one

I talked with a friend recently about his two year old Corvette, LS2 400HP, 6spd MT and he regularly gets 30mpg on the highway.

yea, my dad has a 99 LS1 with around 380WHP(so we were told) and he gets 32 highway, 27 around town. and the saturn guys flamed me to hell when i said that, so when we start it up in spring, i promised a pic of it for them.

they also shot me down for saying a LS1 camaro got between 22 and 25 around town.

The same engine, but with direct injection, is available in the 08 Cadillac an puts 304 HP, an 16 to 26 MPG. This is no cheap engine: double overhead cam, 4 valves/cylinder, variable valve timing.

hey, that guy with the green 5th gen in his avatar... whats his name again?
    jk.... but seriously

I wonder if there will be any money in a 5th gen camaro body kit.  front bumper and hood that make it look like the firebird chop.  eh?  any takers.  sell the firebird conversion kit in 09?

The early indications from many aftermarket suppliers seems to show that the 5th gen Camaro will be the most heavily supported Camaro ever, so I would not be too surprised to see the type of parts you mention.

as much as I am against body work, in this case I think I may be ok with it.  It would only really take a front bumper, a hood, and a ducktail or something to bring back the old firebird look.  The mustangs have been doing eleanor kits like crazy, maybe the firebird kit will be like that for us.    Im kinda hoping so, even if some of u guys think its blaspheme
