LS1= 12-18k
LT1= 3,500-6k
I see more threads on here about which to buy and the LS1 owners always go on and on about how much better the LS1 is. Yes, it has some better internals. But for the price of the LT you can upgrade most of the LT's internals to the same and still be thousands ahead. Most guys can't afford to mod there LS1 cause they have no money left after the purchase. Payed 5k for my LT1 full bolt on's w/ comp cam 503, 373's, custom tranny, 3000-3800 stall, 150 shot, moser 12 bolt and I'm in it 15 grand. Oh ya, I haven't lost a race to a LS1 yet.
So IMO look for a LT and mod the thing out. Plus you you won't have to look at those ugly fish-eye head lights on the LS1.

I don't agree that the price difference is THAT much. An LT1 in excellent shape with low miles is still worth close to $10k, and I don't think LS1's cost quite what you quoted either unless its a low milage SS.

I do agree with the fisheye headlight statement somewhat. They're not ugly, but they're not quite as handsome either.

bolton ls1 + nitrous > bolton lt1 plus nitrous.   add heads to ur 15k and well talk

People put too much stock into the LS1, when i go to craigslist just to see whats on i find LS1 camaros (usually 98/99s) with more miles than my LT1 going for about 8-9K. Im not a fan of the LS1 camaros but the T/as are nice. I mean yeah its nice to have 30-20 more hp but like stated before with the couple grand u save on an LT1 you can stroke it and have 400+ hp and then w/e bolt ons you want. LS1s with bolt ons are nice but its hella expensive to mod an LS1 compared to an LT1.

Christ in a cartoon, how many times do we have to say this!

The LS1 is a better platform to build on due to the better heads, no matter how you stack it the heads on an LS1 will always be able to take more lift and make better flow numbers than an LT1 or other SBC head.  I have an LT1, I love it, but it's a simple fact that it's not as good of a platform.  Get the fanboy mentality out of your mind.  Yes you can build on an LT1 for cheap and beat a stock LS1, but the LS1 will be able to make better power in the long run.  End of story...read 1 topic up...

yeah.. but in car modification your cars only gonna be as fast as your wallet is fat. An LS1 is a PERFECT engine for someone with the money to make a fast. But an LT1 is a good starter for those who dont bring in the big bucks.

easy solution - buy halo headlights, it makes it look like a more angry catfish. i was thinking about trading in my LS1 for a 96-97 ss. wait.. did i just say that??
