Hi, I'm new to the forum and will have plenty of questions....

Right now I'm working on the rear leaf spring bushings in my 79, just bought an energy susp kit.
I'm having problems getting any of the nuts/bolts loose. Whats the deal with the bolts, someone told me to torch the bolt and buy new ones? Could these be hacked, but I'm really not sure which their talking about.
The leaf side closer to the door has a bracket to hold the leaf bushing assembly up. Yet I only had one bolt there lol took it out and the spring would not press down. I did notice a tab bent into the frame off that bracket piece, do you have to wack it out there?
Also I have removed the shock, working on the driver side.
I'd love to see a tech write up with PICTURES if anyone has it please!!!

I'm working on the ground so It's not making anything easy...

I have to ask you a dumb question. You do have the car jacked up by the frame to take the load off the springs, don't you? The rest of what you're fighting is age and rust. The bolts you need to remove are the front and rear horizontal leaf spring eye bolts.

Yes one jack on the frame pumped up and another under the axle to let down. Guess my question is more of how much do/can I let down on the axle? I can just get a braker bar in the front now and pry down about an inch, but I need at least 3 more inches to really be able to work with the bolt and bushings.

I still have concerns about the bolts that go thru the bushings holding everything and how to get them out. I sprayed some crap on there, but those fu@kers are tight! Does anyone know what GM size/grade would be best to replace the bolts?
