challenging all v6's for the summer. right now I have a 88 2.8 v6 that I wanna turn into a real beast on the streets. what are the steps I need to take to build it with the best of the best performance products?

can I swap out the two filter air intake with something more powerful?? or is there a way I can get a cold air intake kit added to that one??

I also need all upgrades I should take on one after the next to make it a steady project.

thanx

You are staring with the wrong engine, if you plan to build a beastly V6.  If you really want to stay with a V6, an easy swap would be to replace the 2,8 with a 3.4, and with more work you could go with a 3.8. Personally, if the 2.8 is in good condition, I wold just give it a tune up and just enjoy it for what it is, a good economical daily driver.

Dont mess with the 2.8. But if you are dead set on a v6. you could get REALLY GOOD power ( for a v6) out of the 3.8. Ask around in the 4th gen area. Ive heard of some 3.8's running low 10's!!

ok well a quest for a 3.8 it is!!!
word?? low 10's!!!

what do I need to do to turn the 2.8 to a 3.8?? Im just getting into mechanics. I heard sumffin bout keepin the 2.8 and just addin 3.4 or 3.8 injectors. do you guys kno anything about that.

my goal is to see what potential I can get out of a v6 before I start on a v8 project. if alls well ill do them.

Diablo, save your money. I've chased the same dream as you for awhile now and after much research I've learned the 2.8 just doesn't have the potential unless you what to spend BIG $$$. I recently spent $1400 on my 88 doing a basic overhaul and camshaft and now wished I saved up for a v8 swap. Well at least it no longer burns oil. If your really set on the 2.8 then check out 60degv6.com. They've got guys with 12 sec. turbo engines but have spent alot of money doing so.

Do the 3X00 intake and Head swap, that is what i plan to do to my 3.1. I called a junkyard and for 250 bones I can get a 3400 engine  for 250 bucks, swap out heads, pistons, upper and lower intake manifold and throttle body from the 3400/3100 and that should boost your performance. Of course you will have to get a set of headers as well for the setup. My dream setup includes the above and about 3 grand more for an STS turbo system, but that is unlikely as I have a baby on the way

alright......i have a 91' RS V6
its not a 2.8 but i kno for a fact if ur trying to make a beast i'd be leaning more towards a 3.4 or even a 3.8
a 3800 v6 can put out a lot of power
right now i've got the 3.1 liter
its not bad
but i too want a beast
but im one of those thats wants a v8
so im currently 200$$$ away from havin my 350
but i wouldnt try building on a 2.8
it'd just turn into a big money pit
