Ok i do not know that much about cars, but i know that i have always wanted a muscle car. I am about to get a 1967 Camaro SS. Since i do not know much about cars i would like your advice on what i can do to fix it up. It is not in the greatest condition but i will have plenty of time to work on it. I am basically going to have to give the entire car a makeover. So, from your experience what would be the best thing to do first. And i am working on a budget. I am not really conserned about keeping it original because i am not planning on selling it. I want this to be a car i enjoy for myself. Any help would be great. Also what is the best kind of exhaust to put on? i want it more for sound than performance. So, i want people to hear me comming down the street in it.

Well.
You got alot going on in this post, first let me say that it is your car, so do it up the way you want it, especially since you are going to keep it.

Next I will say that you need a car first before your next questions can be answered, where to start is kind of a broad question and knowing what you have to start with is helpfull.  You will be able to basically break the project down into two parts; motor and body.

Its up to you on which to do first, personally I dont want to put an engine in a car with fresh paint, so I will get the mill done first, then the body.  But on the other hand there are guys/gals who would prefer not to install a motor twice (first time to mock it up and make sure everything fits, then remove for paint and then re-install).  So its up to you.

As far as the sound you want; headers and 2 inch pipes will make it nice and loud, dont forget the throaty sound from a good carb too.

well thanks for the replies. i am going to work on the motor first because i want to make sure i can get it running before i put too much work into the look of the car. right now i am looking into headers and exhaust. beyond exhaust im not real sure what kind of upgrades i am capable of doing. i know i can work on the interior and paint stuff with no problem it is just the engine and performance parts that i am worried about.
Oh and another question....what brand and size tires do you guys recomend. i was thinking about a 15 or 16 inch wheel but i am not sure about the width of the tire.
