I have an 89 rs with about 67k on the odometer. I was driving home last night, and everything was going great until I pulled up to a stop sign and it just puttered out and died. I got home (I had to keep one foot on the brake and one on the gas, because if I let it get under 1500, it will die) and tried to start it, but it wouldn't start w/o my foot on the accelerator. I tried again this morning and no change (big surprise). I pulled all of the plugs, and it's definitely running rich, I also jumped the diagnostic port and it gave me codes 32, 34, & 45 (I haven't had time to pursue any, and 32 has been there since I have owned the car). The only thing I noticed is that I've developed a water leak at the junction screwed into the intake manifold under the throttle body and it ran pretty low on coolant, but not low enough to vapor-lock. Also, it appeard to have had pretty high oil pressure at some point (I didn't notice the gauge), b/c I noticed that it appeared oil had blown out of every place on the valve cover it could possibly get out. Now I'm fairly skilled in the art of the grease monkey (top of my class at tech-school) so don't be afraid to use big words. I just don't have the time or equipment to pursue this at the moment and I'm wondering if there are any tendencies or recurring issues that somebody more familiar with this car can help me with. BTW, I'm going to borrow a compression gauge and a fuel pressure gauge from a friend later, so I'll post those results when I get them. Any help will be muchly appreciated.

Well I have a 90 rally sport and it would start for about 5 seconds than die on me and it was running mega rich to. I found one problem it was the distributor it wasn't getting spark to the pick up coil. Now it will start and idle the second problem I have is all six of my fuel injectors are bad they are stuck open and just dumping fuel in so check into that stuff maybe it will be your problem Good Luck.

On the Multi Port Fuel Injection Or the Sequential Multi Port on the V6 if one injector goes bad it will kill a whole side. So maybe both of you guys can look into testing the feed and each injector (I think you can do an ohms test on them or watch the spray) The downer is you have to remove the upper plenum.

One other thing.
If you have a powered LED test light or noid light check for pulses to the injectors. If you have no pulses then your ignition module could be bad. (testing with an LED should have constant power with key on and the gound is the pulse)
