Alright, some of you may have noticed that we don't have an official 'Brakes' section, so I'm posting this here.

If you read my post in the 4th gen section, you know my brakes are for crap, and am looking to possibly upgrade, instead of just replace.

Can I put corvette brakes on my camaro? Will it take any large modifications, or will it be a bolt on upgrade? If I can just bolt them on, what years will work on my '93 z28?

The main reason why I would rather do this than goto an aftermarket brand, is that if something fails/brakes, I can just get them replaced. I'd rather do this than go out and pay multiple thousands of dollars for some brembos.

Thanks in advance.

Probably a double post...

I found this list on ls1lt1.com. It would seem that all this stuff upgrades the front brakes, but not the rear. Is that a problem?

Here is the parts list of everything you will need and their GM part numbers.

UMI C5 conversion brackets -
Please read carefully!
GM Parts List for 93-02 F-body to C5 Front Brake Conversion

GM Part # Quantity Description
12530682 1 Right front caliper (standard C5)
12530683 1 Left front caliper (standard C5)
10445856 1 Right front rotor
10445857 1 Left front rotor
12455799 2 Pad abutment bracket
22163727 2 Front caliper brake hose
12530697 4 Pad abutment guide pin
12530703 4 Guide pin boot
22163795 2 Banjo bolt
10139097 4 Banjo bolt copper washers

GM parts list notes:
• If you want the red Z06 calipers, use Part #s 88895128 and 88895129 in place of caliper #s above. The cost is the same.
• The guide pin bolts come with the calipers, so the part number is not listed above.
• The C5 calipers come fully assembled.

GM Part # Quantity Description
12480154 1 set Hawk HP+ Front Pad set
18039366 1 set Durastop Front pad set
88909667 1 set Durastop Ceramic front pad set (w/springs & shims)
88952008 1 set Z06 front brake pad set (w/springs & shims) RECOMMENDED

GM brake pads list notes:
• Neither the regular Durastops nor the Hawk pads come with anti-rattle springs or pad abutment shims. The ZO6 and Durastop Ceramic pads DO come with the NECESSARY springs & shims.
• The Durastop Ceramic pads are not recommended for track use. However, they are a good street pad because they have very low dusting, are quiet, and have a lifetime warranty from GM.

i have recently been looking into the same thing. I am looking at a z06 upgrade. I believe they make adapter kits that will make the vette set up work.

Yeah, and I'm also wondering if I'm limited to the c5 (z06) brakes, or if I can go for c6.
