Hey guys, I used to be pretty good about washing my car but I haven't done it in a while and I have more road tar on my car then ever.  There seems to be no easy way to get this stuff off other than picking at the little dots while washing it, which really isn't very effective and can also leave scratches.  is there any stuff out there that will take this junk right off?

I used lacquer thinner to get the tar off.  Seemed to work flawlessly for me.

Whatever tar cleaner you use will require wax on that area.

Look for some stuff called Goo-Be-Gone at Wal-Mart. Has a goldish color to it and comes in a spray bottle. The stuff is liguid gold.

you know what i would do... take a cloth and spray some brake cleaner on it. (yes it will dull the clear a lil) but then wax the car and it will all blend in. i do it everyday...

If the tar has been on there for awhile... its gona be hard to get off no matter what you use... aside from like, sand paper or something..

But it can be takin off, like black said, you will need to rewax. at least in that area.

Actually a pressure washer set to about 185 degrees, and some industrial strength bug and tar remover ( simoniz is what i use) should take it off, then i would recommend clay bar

Turtle Wax makes a nice tar remover and never had any issues with it.  Doesn't cost that much either.

I have a bottle of bug and tar remover from the 80's or something. It works like a charm, best stuff I've ever used. Not sure what I'll do when I run out. My step-grandma works at metro, so she can go in to the chemical return area and grab stuff, this bottle showed up with it's wrapper still on, and a fox body mustang on the label. I have like 8 gallons of armor-all.
