So for those of us looking to build a COPO 9560 clone or replica or something, GM's building 427 new ZL1 engines, named "Anniversary 427"

http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/EngineShowcase/index.jsp?engId=Anniversary427&engine=Anniversary%20Edition%20427&sku=19166392&engCat=bb

The first one sold on Barrett-Jackson for $275,000- and I've been told to expect the retail price range to be in the area of $130,000 or so, you'll definitely need deep pockets, but 'tis a damn nice idea.

I saw this engine recently at the Ocean City MD show.  GM had a display there and it was sittin' pretty.  The tag on it said  "when available, $20,000".

$20,000, eh? That's considerably better than I was told- I spoke to a guy in the parts department of a Chevrolet dealership, he said I couldn't expect it to be less than $100,000.

Well, suddenly this jumps into being possible to pull off.

Ya, unless there's more than one type of 427 aluminum crate motor that looks like this, then $20k is suppposed to be the price.   Still too rich for me, though

They also struck a deal with the Yenko name.  Dynacorn did.  Now you can buy a brand new 69 yenko.
