Somewhere in that time frame (I''m figuring starting in 96) is when Chevy started painting them to match the body color. So sure, it can be done. With some proper prep work and thorough masking, you can do it while they are still on the car. Clean the mirrors first with a cleaning solvent, then sand with about 150 grit, prime them well, and wet sand the primer with 600. You should be able to find a Dupli Color in a spray can to match. Do a decent paint job, wet sand with 1500 grit, give it a good rubbing with microfine rubbing compound, then a finish polish, and it will look a lot better than the crummy black does now. Now, wasn''t that easy? You should actually be able to tackle the whole thing in an afternoon.
