For those of you who dont know what aircare is, I live in British Columbia, Canada, and it is a government run pimp house that requires cars to go through emissions tests every few years. I just bought my '95 z28 last night new cams, rollers, catback, etc...I put the catalytic converter back in and put some stupid cleanser **** in my gas tank the other day. Here is my problem:

They test for 3 things, 2 of which I pass, and the HC is what I fail:
Hydrocarbons (max 0.5)
1st reading: 0.9,              2nd reading: 1.8

My 2nd time I put some stupid "guaranteed to pass aircare" mixes in my tank from Canadian Tire, BAD idea. DOUBLE the reading, wtf?

Can any1 tell me ANYTHING I could do to help me temporarily pass this horrible test? Some mechanic told my buddy I can unplug somethin near the cams or rollers which would help, ideas?

High HC means that there is too much unburnt fuel in the exhaust. Start by giving the car a good tune up, by changing spark plugs, plug wires, & air filter. Check the O2 sensor activity with a scanner, and replace them if they are lazy. Also, if the MIL is lit, take care of that problem first.

MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light)  is the industry standard name for the SES, check engine, check engine soon, etc.. Because each brand has a different name for the same light. Actually for a few bux the car makers could subtitute a small LED display which would indicate the actual caode number.

But Pete...that would cost extra money and would make it so people didn''t go to the dealership to get their ass raped...i mean...codes read and repairs done!
