I came across a ''98 SS with 120,000 miles. The interior/exterior are flawless as the car was garage kept. The only flaw on this car is that the AC compressor does not work and needs to be replaced. This car has all options minus the leather interior. The owner was asking $7,500 but I talked him down to $6,800 - is this a good deal or not? Any feedback would be appreciated!

I don''t think so. AC compressor can be expensive to fix, and there''s too many miles for that price. Who knows what else is wrong.

Thank you for that seed of doubt..! Anybody else? Also, I found this at the base used car lot. The reason the guy is selling this car is because he got last minute orders out of country - he''s in the military with me.

I figure I''''''''d look it up on Kelly Blue Book, and i found this. KBB Anyway, in case the site doesn''''''''t work for you, Kelly Blue Book had these estimates: Condition - Value Excellent $6,855 Good $6,265 Fair $5,50

I have tried using KBB on purchases and most people just laugh and say ''send your money to Kelley & get the car''. It is a guideline at best but most cars sell above those prices until you go to trade it in at a dealer. If a dealer prices a vehicle in the range of KBB, I would be very suspicious...... It all depends on how the car was treated during the 120K miles. LS1 SS Camaros are not cheap and this may be a good deal if you take the time to have it checked out by a mechanic.

Sounds like a good deal on a LS1, like harts1spitfire said get it checked out by a mechanic to make sure its not "to good to be true" because thats a really good price on a LS1. Around me I still see LT1 with 150,xxx and plus miles going for the same price($6,800) as this car. So good luck.
