I recently replaced the head gaskets and did a whole lot of new parts on the car including Long tube headers and removal of Air pump and the car has a CAI intake and a air foil...New plugs AC Delco Platinums and New wires.
It screams....Runs flat out awesome, But when it idles....It idles about 600 RPM and Chugs with a steady shake...It was too the point it acted like it fouled a plug then cleans up after 2500 rpms...

I took the car in and had it scanned and it said the car was running lean but the O2''s werent reading right. The #8 plug was mis-firing...
I put two new Bosch 02''s in it and found the wire not fully locked onto the opti for #8...It immediately quit running as rough...The Fuel mileage went WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY up and the car seemed to have even more power....

But Unfortunately the idle is still a bit rough and chuggish. It doesnt seem to be misfiring..And it cleanly revs up quick and easy....Could it be my Tune is just off due to the new headers and lack of air pump? Would that cause a rough idle? The computer on the scanner seems to think everything is fine but it sure doesnt feel perfect.

Also the car doesnt stall and it keeps itself running...There were ants climbing around the vacum lines to the opti-spark while the car was down for the head gasket repairs...Do you think the ants might have gone up one of those two tubes for the opti? What would happen if a little insect body made its way inside? One of those hoses is for a vent right? so a Ant would just then get sucked into the motor and be burned...The other hose is what? Vacum advance? Could that affect my idle? to the point where the idle is rough?

The Idle is sort of unpredictable also...Sometimes it better than other times...Not ever perfect but it seems to vary. When its cold its better than when its warm. And if the car is in gear against the convertor its alot rougher than when its in neutral...One of my friends asked I put a cam in it because it was a bit lopey and rough...I thought this motor should idle smooth as silk.

Another thing that I did while the engine was apart, Was to route the coolant from the back of the heads to the radiator without going through the throttle body. I figured heat in the incoming air is bad....Especially since its hot out when I drive this car....There isnt a heat related sensor in there is there?

My mind is racing at all the things it could possibly be....I have not reset the computer since the first time the SES light came on...And since the plug wire was re-attached and the new 02'' sensors were installed the light has never came back on. This is really bothering me since it runs so good otherwise. My girlfriend drove the car yesterday and she was shocked at how much better it powers away from a traffic light than ever before. She is also concerned about the dang idle though too. Its seems that if  hold the idle open a tad with my foot on the gas it smooths out. What is perfect idle speed supposed to be with a Automatic tranny in park and in drive? I see Its possible to turn the idle up via a screw on the TB but I heard it will cause issues...Dunno.
