My friend has a 2005 GT headers, mid pipe, slp LM2, intake, and tuner. To this day he still thinks he can beat a stock LS1 . He is getting closer if he gets a good clutch and some traction he might be albe to match one in the 1/4... maybe  At the same time his car is 5 years newer and only has 20K on her. You also have to keep in mind the price of the newer GT''s VS a Good LS1 11,000 vs 20,000 is a big price diffrence.

That''s why the Mustang still can''t keep up with the Camaro 10 years later... They''ll get there eventually. Chevy was waiting for Ford to catch up is all lol.

The 3 valve 4.6 is a great car a hell of a lot better then the old 2 valve. The car is fun to drive and handles good for what it is. I have a friend with a 05 to this day he still thinks it will take a LS1 He is now bolted with headers, mid pipe, slp exhaust, K&N intake and a tuner his best tiem to date is a 13.4 . That was at the same track that i was runing 13.3s at stock

Mustang owners think the mighty LS1 is overrated. I just let them know it isn''''t a corvette-engine for nothing.

i just got done fitting my engine with some vette valve covers made for a center-bolt head (thats an irritating conversion btw.....  the driver side lifts up whenever i drive and I have to push it down whenever I pop the hood)  but im just anticipating all the questions about "is that a REAL vette engine in there?????"

The 32 valve SC cobra could eat a LS1. Too bad ford didnt build it a year sooner. However you also have too look at the price range. If you are talking about the Cobra you have to be fair and put it in the LS6 class. Now that mighty 32valve DOHC 4.6 with its big bad blower isnt looking so good now is it.

If you want to be fair look at the newer 4.6 3 valve GT''s. 6 years since the last F-bodys came down the ramp and ford is still playing catch up. Thats why the Cobra has well over 440 horses yet only runs high 12s the same times well bolted LS1''s run. Ford just has not figured it out yet.

Comparing a Cobra to an LS1 isn''t really a good comparison... The LS1 compares to the GT imo... Then the Corvette with the Cobra-R. Then the Z06 with the GT500... Then the ZR1 with... Oh wait...

That''s how I see it... Stick a blower on an LS1 and the GT500 will have some Camaro company real quick... Lol
