ORIGINAL: Jr. Mechanic It was orignally the 175 hp LU5 with the crossfire injection, but someone swapped it over to carb, which is great for me. Btw, I am gonna have lots of parts to sell from my 88 parts car, and I also have a crossfire injection air cleaner setup, edelbrock 500 cfm carb, holley 650 double pumper, a DIS (distributorless ignition system) for a SBC I will have for sale if anyone is interested. Anything anyone needs, shoot me a line to mopar_4__life@hotmail.com (Btw, dont rag on the mopar, im still a mopar guy at heart, lol) Oh one more thing, that would be me in the pictures. You are Jake from Two and a Half Men??? Well Jake you are too generous. The CFI only had 165 ponies. Never had one but driven a few Corvettes and a Camaro with that system and it may have been a good thing that it was swapped to a carb as I have heard many times they had their problems. No, im Garret from Ohio. According to thirdgen.org, it had 175hp and 250 ft lbs of torque. Not like I care, its coming out anyways, lol. Btw, brassknukl, if you want that DIS setup, send me an email with an offer. Im really not sure what its worth... Yeah I see a lot of people quote thirdgen. But thirdgen is not the law or the best place to look. I have also seen a lot of misguided info from there. According to every piece of print material I have from service manuals to books and magazine articles from Road & Track, Car and Driver, Motor Trend.... They all say 165hp and 240 tq. Where third gen gets their info I do not know. I get mine from print and not from one mistake that was found on the web and spread around. But I have to ask.... Are you and Jake related? Have you ever seen the show? I like that kid. His interactions with Jon and Charlie are funny! Oh and are you going to keep the flaps on the hood functional? That is why I asked if it was CFI. They looked as if they were the flappers that opened. Plus it should be a fiberglass hood.

I may get a vacuume actuated cowl induction kit for it or something. Yeah, ive seen the show, but I dont think we look alike.

Uh oh! I have to take back waht I said. I had stuck in my head 82 when in fact 83 had a bump in power.....My bad! I hope no one saw that Does your hood not have the solenoid to open the flaps? You could hook a micro switch to the throttle like ones that are used for nitros of 400 kick down to work the flaps. If it does not have it then maybe a power lock solenoid but those might be kinda strong.
