Hi guys,

jay from holland here and my 3.8 started to missfire on cyl. 6
one month ago.
I printed out some topics from this forum with the same problem and gave it to the meganic so he could follow this but now after a month the car is still not running.
When cold it runs fine, after 2 or 3 min. the problem begins.
If it was only cyl. 6 the car should be running on 5 cyl but mine stops and moves very slowly running on maybe 2 or 3 cyl. (feels like that) CES light comes on, flashes sometimes.
He checked everything that you guys talked about, plugs, cables, injectors,MAF,installed a new distributor, checked compression, enc enc but still nothing.

Is there anybody who has some more idea`s?
bc i run out..

thx

Well You Need 3 Essential Main Things For An Engine To Run:

1. FUEL.
Have You Checked Your Injectors?
Does Your Fuel Pump Work Properly?
Do You Have Access To A Fuel Presser Tester?

2. SPARK.
You Said You Replaced The Plugs, Wires And The "Distributer" DSI, And It Cranks & Turns Over But Runs Poorly.
DEAD CLYINDER? MAYBE?

3. COMPRESSION.
Have You Done Any Sort Of Compression Test? If So, What Are Your Numbers?

~Also, What Is The History Of The Motor/Car?  Did You Just Get It? What Year Is It?

&& What Codes Does It Throw?

-If You Havent Found Out What Codes It Throws, If Its Pre-93, Put A Bent Paper Clip Into The (A) Pin And The (B) Pin And Your PCM Will Flash The Codes.-

~Heres How To Get The Codes If Its A 95.

~This Is To Tell You What The Codes Mean

Hope This Helps.

You mentioned that your mechanic replaced the distributor. Engines in 3.8 Camaros do not use distributors. Your car uses DIS ignition with 3 coils, each coil firing 2 spark plugs. If #6 cylinder is misfiring due to a coil problem, the mate cylinder #3 will also misfire. Otherwise follow what was previously posted.

Guys i did..
and in Europe, the junkyard guys know more about the engines than the dealers do bc they work with those engines all the time.
Some plugwires were old and gave a bad spark, replased, but still my car doesnt run well.
Could it be my main computer?
they dont break down often..

DId you check your EGR and catalytic converter like I said? What about your coils? Stopped up cat doesn''t throw any codes except the P0300 codes when it bogs it down WHEN IT GETS HOT. Sounds like your problem to me... I''m just advising that you check it.
